Antique Geslin handpainted silk fan with etched & gilt mother of pearl splines and carved blond sticks. Back of topmost spline is marked Geslin a Paris. French, ca. 19th century. Handpainted rococo scene depicting courting couples is after F. Imbert, a French 18th century artist/engraver. Silk is torn in several spots, the largest 2" long and near the topmost spline; one stick has been snapped off; embroidered border at top of fan is partly detached. Width when fully extended is 26".
