Pair of Sarreguemines faience plates commemorating the state visit of Tsar Nicholas II and Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna to Paris in 1896. The Nicholas II plate illustrates key moments in the formation of the Dual Entente, including the visits of the French and Russian naval squadrons to Kronstadt and Toulon, respectively. The Alexandra Feodorovna plate illustrates important moments in the engagement and coronation of the Imperial couple. Marks for Utzschneider & Co., Sarreguemines, to base.
