Quiet Roar. Giglee. Catherine Yi-yu Cho Woo (1935-2021) was a scholar, teacher, painter and composer. She was the first Asian-American woman to serve on the National Council on the Arts, and was honored by the National Endowment for the Arts with an appointment as am Ambassador for the Arts. Dr. Woo's paintings have been on exhibit at the United Nations, the Sackler Museum at Harvard University, and the National Gallery in Taipei, Taiwan among other places. She completed her undergraduate and Masters degree in Interior Design and Art History from San Diego State University (SDSU) and earned a doctorate from the University of San Francisco. Her poem, "Tian Tian Tian Lan," (Everyday Sky Blue) (天天天藍), was made into a song and became the title track of Taiwanese artist Michelle Pan's 1982 album. It became a massive number one hit in Taiwan shortly after its release in August 1982. It's still considered classic Mandopop.
