This compass was handcrafted by the legendary Feng Xiushui workshop in Fang Xiushi, the birthplace of premium Chinese compass making. This tool was used by Feng Shui practitioners to cross reference a building's orientation with its internal energy sector. By doing so, practitioners could quickly determine where to place a master's bedroom, kitchen, and front door to optimize luck. The maker’s signature and chop seal are on the back of the piece.
