Well-decorated K'iche Maya ceremonial huipil, possibly a wedding huipil, from Santa Lucia Utatlan in Solola, Guatemala, circa mid-20th century. Two backstrap-loomed cotton panels are joined together and decorated with horizontal bands of red, yellow, and green cotton brocade with purple, white, and blue silk detail. The colored decoration terminates halfway down the huipil and a white-on-white figural pattern continues. A 7" wide ring of lace is fixed around the collar. Machine-made fabric lining has been sewn to the interior. Lower portion of huipil has some small stains.
