Will Seiler, born and artistically trained in Germany, is believed to have left his home country in 1928 and begun an extended period of travel across Europe and other parts of the world. After World War II, he settled permanently in Japan, choosing Karuizawa as his place of residence. Seiler became known for his etchings and paintings, which were primarily produced for members of the American occupation forces in Japan. Reliable information about his later years and death is limited and partly speculative.
